Packing a picnic basket and heading outdoors in summer is a treat. Crusty bread, cheese, salads, fruit and sparkling water area all you need (maybe a little champagne too!)
The Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney is great for picnics.
Catch the train to Circular Quay. A short walk around the quay, past the Opera House and you are in the Botanic Garden.
Shady spots are easy to find and soon you will be taking in views across Sydney Harbour.
Among the many trees, the Moreton Bay figs stand out, with their large sprawling raised roots and dense wide foliage. Children laugh and play happily among the roots and climb on the low lying branches.
There is a space called Fig Tree Lawn used for weddings. Sometimes you will see a couple posing against the huge folds in the trunks of the Moreton bay figs.
As well as picnicking and weddings, the garden holds lots of water features, lush vegetation, interesting nooks and crannies and bird life.
The Royal Botanic Garden changes with the seasons and delights year round.
