The Hidden Jacaranda

Late spring train journeys around Sydney are special.

A haze of purple - blue flowers burst into life across the suburbs as far as we can see. A simple trip becoming a visual feast.

At this time of year I loved the trip to see my aunt in the Northern Suburbs. Glimpses of jacaranda  flashed by as the train travelled close to homes. Then the view would widen showing  a blaze of colour dotted across the distance.

It's a magical sight, for in other seasons we do not even know the jacarandas are there.

They blend in with all the other trees, but in late spring they reveal themselves.

Hidden until all of a sudden there they are enchanting and amazing us .
